The Whirlybird gets ready to fly! Touring to schools, nurseries and the Puppet Animation Festival 2019

We are delighted to announce that our brand new theatre production, The Whirlybird, is about to begin its first Scottish tour, performing at schools, nurseries, community and theatre venues across Scotland during March-May 2019. Please see below for tour details and how to book.

The Whirlybird is a funny and moving story about a bird that yearns to fly, featuring movement, music, bird song and puppetry. In a cosy nest, two birds look skyward and get ready for their maiden flight. While flying comes easy for Bird, Whirlybird just can’t get the hang of it. After many failed attempts, inspiration is found in a very special flying seed.

This ecological tale celebrates the differences that make us unique, finding inspiration in nature and the wonder of flight.  Suitable for children aged 3-7 years and their families, the production will enthral and inspire young audiences about the natural world and bring them closer to nature through a quality theatre experience.

This tour includes our fourth year as part of Puppet Animation Festival, the UK’s largest performing arts event for children, which exists to bring quality theatre and animation to all audiences around Scotland.

The Whirlybird was created in association with Platform and with support from Creative Scotland, Sylvia Waddilove Foundation and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. Touring to schools and nurseries is funded by the William Syson Foundation and Glasgow City Council’s Area Partnership.

For bookings throughout 2019 and 2020, please contact Nina Doherty on nina@ecodrama.co.uk.
